Guest Feature: Kelly Marie
Get ready for another guest feature! This week, we’re putting Kelly Marie in the spotlight, a local artist with some beautiful artwork. Keep reading to get to know more about Kelly and all about her passion to paint!
“I have always loved making art. When I was a kid, I doodled constantly and I took every art class I could in school. Though, when I entered adulthood, I didn't have the confidence that I could make a living as an artist so I explored other career options. I've worked a lot of random jobs, but I always felt restless and out of place. Whenever I stopped creating I didn't feel fulfilled. In 2016, I realized I didn't really have a choice in the matter when it came to being an artist. It's who I am at my core. I dived into the professional art world head first and it was the best decision I've ever made. (Aside from putting mashed potatoes and cheese in my waffle maker one morning...)”
We asked Kelly what her favorite thing about being an artist is and this is what she had to say: “My ultimate favorite thing about being an artist is that I can embrace all of my creative urges. I don't have to wait for the weekend to get messy. I don't have to get permission to try new things with my art or with my business. The freedom to chase sparks of inspiration the moment they happen is really satisfying. Also, I love being able to make my own schedule. I've never been a morning person, so not having to wake up early and drive to an office for work is great."
Kelly uses soft, pretty colors and incorporates awesome patterns into her art. She says, “My art style is colorful, dreamy, and full of movement. I am inspired by energy and emotion, so I naturally gravitate towards expressive abstract styles. Using flowing and sometimes geometric lines, I'm always working to create a sort of organized chaos.”
Some of Kelly's art:
“Most of my artwork is for sale through my online shop (shop.messyeverafter.com) and I am also open to commissioned work. You can explore my blog at messyeverafter.com to learn more about my tools and techniques, as well as read advice for artists. Definitely follow @messyeverafter on Instagram for a daily dose of artsy goodness.”
We’re so happy that we were able to feature such an amazing artist like Kelly! Be sure to go check out her art and explore her blog!
