Recipes + Cookbooks For Hosting V-Day
Hey lovers! With Valentine's Day on Thursday, we know some of you babes may be making a romantic dinner for two or even hosting a Galentines party! Whether it's for your significant other or for your girlfriends, now is a good time to show off your mad cooking skills. Stuck at what to make or how? Don't worry, we have you covered!
One of our favorite books at the moment includes "The L.A. Cookbook" by Alison Clare Steingold. This cookbook is truly unique because it gathers some of the best dishes from famous and popular restaurants all around Los Angeles, and tells you their recipe directly. I mean, how cool is that?!
The "Dining In" cookbook by Alison Roman is another one we're crushing on because of the extraordinary home cooking recipes that Roman creates. Roman transforms the most simple ingredients into the most delicious dishes!
We are also loving "Radiant The Cookbook" by Mafalda Pinto Leite. This cookbook highlights the importance of beauty from the inside out and creates recipes that nourish your body and soul.
The "Love and Lemons" Cookbook by Jeanine Donofrio is not only pleasing to look at, but Donofrio tells you how to make the most extravagant meals from the simplest of ingredients- as she puts it, everything from apple to zucchini!
Lastly, "How to Drink French Fluently" is the perfect little cocktail book that teaches you how to make the most delicious and foolproof cocktails like the French! And to that we say, Oui s'il vous plaît!
Date Night
Dinner
If you're a pasta lover, you for sure have to make the Tagliatelle with Pork Ragù from "The L.A. Cookbook". It is a delicious dish that is the exact recipe that is used at Union located in Pasadena. Feeling like a less heavy meat pasta dish? "The L.A. Cookbook" also tells you how to make Cacio e Pepe Spaghetti from Felix Trattoria located on Abbot Kinney. You honestly can't go wrong with either dish!
Drinks
Everyone loves a good Negroni! "The L.A. Cookbook" teaches you how to master the perfect Negroni. An ever-classic drink, this cookbook takes the recipe from The Varnish, a handcrafted cocktail bar located in Los Angeles.
Dessert
Take a classic twist on the chocolate chip cookie and make a Salted Butter and Chocolate Chunk Shortbread featured in the "Dining In" cookbook. This is a way to create a more high class and upscale version of the classic chocolate chip cookie.
Galentines Day
Dinner
For a lighter fare for dinner, grab the "Love and Lemons" cookbook and whip up some Quinoa Salad Radicchio Cups. We love this recipe because it's healthy and bite-sized; perfect for when you're hosting a gathering with a ton of your girlfriends. Another meal that we're dying to make from the "Love and Lemons" cookbook is the Roasted Cauliflower and Pear Pizza. This cookbook also tells you how to make the perfect pizza dough so it can be homemade from start to finish!
Drinks
"How to Drink French Fluently" gives you all the tips and tricks on the best cocktails out there. We found the Smoked Tomato one to be perfect for a Galentines Day Party. Don't let the name fool you- this cocktail has a flowery and sweet flavor to it and a beautiful red color.
Dessert
What better way to impress your girlfriends than with homemade doughnuts! In "Radiant the Cookbook", Leite has perfected the recipe to make the most delicious (and healthiest) doughnuts! This way you can eat all the doughnuts you want with feeling half the guilt!
We can't wait for you babes to try all these recipes! Happy Valentine's Day!
