Event Recap: VDV x Teressa Foglia

Hi girls!
Before we get to talking about our latest event we had with Teressa Foglia- get to know her and her brand with a little Q+A!
The Teressa Foglia girl in three words? Strong, fun, and eclectic.
Current obsession from the line and why: The French trimmings from our most recent trip to France. We spent 3 weeks at all the antique and vintage markets from Paris to Cannes. We love upcycling and using found materials, so this is the most fun part of the "job" for us!
You knew you were onto something when (a business a ha moment): I invited my family and friends to my store for the first time and woke up with more than a dozen custom hat orders the next day. I never intended to make custom hats, but we got right to work!
Media Diet following on IG, podcasts, etc: @TakeARecess @SamanthaKnightJewelry @Steeleism @Babba @SuzyBaitz @KookSlams | Podcasts: GirlGang The Podcast, Secrets of Wealthy Women, Girl Boss Radio, This American Life, She Did It Her Way, Fashion No Filter, Conscious Chatter, Wardrobe Crisis, A Business With Purpose
What girl crush would you want to see in the collection: We're working on hats right now for some of the most powerful and courageous women. I can't spill too much info on that so here's my dream list that we're manifesting right now :) Michelle Obama, Oprah, Sofia Vergara, Julia Roberts, Tyra Banks, Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, Charlize Theron, Beyonce, Rhianna, Ellen, Angelina... strong women!!!
We had the best time hanging at our One Paseo location for the VDV x Teressa Foglia party recently! There were so many VDV babes that showed up and we loved chatting with each and every one of you. There was live music, food & drinks, and much to talk about! If you couldn’t make it, here’s a recap of one of our favorite nights yet:
First things first, Teressa Foglia is amazing! Teressa and Andrea (founder/CEO of Van De Vort) have been friends since their college days. To see Teressa’s passion for hat making in person was so beautifully inspiring. Teressa is a milliner from NY who specializes in sustainably made custom bespoke. She brought along so many gorgeous-colored hats in hues ranging from warm pastels to vivid greens.
We got to choose which color and style hat we wanted as the base, and then Teressa shaped the crown with steam, used an industrial sander to create a smooth finish, and lit it on fire to give a distressed look while making the hat firm. The hats were customized by attendees and dressed with vibrant and decorative pieces. We could choose to add vintage silks, linings and trims, distressed feathers, embroidered letters, you name it! There was also an option to add etched wood burning customization - this was one of our favorite parts.
Speaking of charming decorations, we were lucky enough to have Native Poppy bring over floral arrangements to our One Paseo location for the event. If you're unfamiliar with the name, Native Poppy is a San Diego based florist who creates unique blooms and bouquets for all occasions. Live music + elegant flowers = the ultimate ambiance.
Arguably, one of the best parts about parties is the food and drinks, agree or disagree? We were happy to have Sweetfin, Shakeshack, and Milly’s Fine Cakes with us! From shiitake chili tofu and truffled yuzu albacore poke to crinkle cut fries and cheeseburgers, there was nothing short of delicious.
As we shopped, talked, and watched our lovely hats come to life, we also sipped on Claxton Cellars Wine and Harland Co. beer. We ended the night with one of the most exquisite tasting cakes- shout out Milly’s Fine Cakes for the beautiful mexican chocolate and banana salted caramel creation!
This was an event to remember. Thank you to Teressa and all of the other companies who shared this night with us! Be sure to follow our Instagram @shopvandevort and sign up for emails to receive alerts for all upcoming events like this one. See you at the next!
XOXO,
VDV ♡
