The Best Green Beauty Products

When it comes to dressing ourselves, we aren't exactly minimalists. We're huge fans of fringe, hardly go a day without rocking distressed denim, and own more macramé than we care to admit. But when it comes to beauty? Well that's an entirely different story.

It's likely that our beachy locale is to blame for our laid back, "less is more" approach to beauty. After all, California girls are known for their signature sun kissed glow and saltwater sprayed hair. But we think there's something else at play there, too. In so many other facets of our life we aim to be conscientious; eating organically when we can, shopping locally as often as possible, and trying our hand at natural remedies. However it wasn't until recently that we decided to makeover our makeup bags. Kinda makes sense to take a look at the stuff we put on our faces every damn day, right?

While we definitely aren't suggesting you replace every last product on your vanity, and absolutely think that you should do whatever works for you, we DID feel compelled to share some of our newfound favorites from the world of green beauty. Whether you're just dipping your toe into the natural beauty movement or looking to clean up your entire cosmetic and skincare collection, here are a few of the products we're loving at the moment.

Green Beauty Products, Cruelty-Free Beauty

REN Micro Polish Cleanser

One of the most important steps in getting a glowing complexion is exfoliating. This formula includes glycolic acid extracted from pineapples and microbeads that sweep away dead skin cells and polish your skin's surface.

Kypris Antioxidant Dew

In search of that dewy, fresh faced look? Here's your answer. This serum moisturizes, balances complexion and soothes stressed skin almost overnight. Pat a few drops onto a clean, dry face and let it do its thing. You can even wear it under your makeup!

RMS Living Luminizer

Get a gorgeous glow whenever, wherever with this organic highlight. It's super sheer and far from sticky or greasy, and works on all skin tones. Dot a little on to your cheekbones, eyelids, down the bridge of your nose and even along collarbones for the perfect beachy sheen.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush

Cream blushes are kinda essential this time of year. They allow you to add color in a sheer, natural-looking way. This formula not only multitasks as a lip tint, but the packaging helps to reduce waste--once you run out, you simply need to buy a refill to pop into the metallic case.

Coola Liplux SPF 15

By now you've heard the virtues of SPF at least one hundred times. Well consider this one hundred and one. Your lips are one of the places you're least likely to apply SPF (sunscreen on the lips just isn't a good look). Make sure to keep your pout protected with a hydrating lip balm that contains SPF, like this one.

Jane Iredale Dream Tint

Achieve #nofilter realness with this animal cruelty-free tinted moisturizer--meaning you won't only look good, but you'll feel good every time you use it. The super hydrating formula plumps up skin, fades fine lines and makes pores nearly disappear.

per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel

As annoying as the phrase "brows on fleek" might be, it actually holds true here. This brow gel is colorless, and helps to hold your hairs in place. Swipe it through a few times, then going back to the inner part of the brow to push those baby hairs straight up for a '90s super model-inspired power brow.
